Our Mission
To promote stewardship of the White River National Forest in Summit County through partnerships, volunteer service, education and support.
The Need for FDRD
We support the US Forest Service's efforts to sustainably manage Summit County, Colorado's White River National Forest. The WRNF is the most visited forest in the U.S. with half of these visitors recreating in the Dillon Ranger District. This high usage necessitates increased stewarefforts like the projects coordinated by the Friends of the Dillon Ranger District.
What We Do
We host approximately 45 community-based volunteer projects each year that address forest health issues including recreation management, fuels and fire, invasive species, and habitat and forest restoration. To see a list of FDRD's 2010 Projects, Click here.
