Where: Dillon REI - 306 Dillon Ridge Rd. Dillon, CO

After 5000 miles of walking across 4 countries, Bethany "Fidgit" Hughes takes a few months to wait out the rainy season in Peru, and share her journey with you. Glaciers and forest fires, mega dams and the endangered huemul of Patagonia, 5th generation farmers and political power grabs, the tales of the land and its inhabitants. The parameters of her journey are to travel along the mountain ranges which comprise the backbone of the Americas, gaining northward degrees of latitude by non-motorized means. Following and connecting routes of Tehuelche tribes to the Incan road system, the Qhapaq Nan, she aims to follow the Andes all the way up to Central America and then continue on through the entirety of the Americas. She has covered elevations ranging from 9 feet below sea level along the senos of the Chilean coast being chased in by tides, to 16,000 feet above sea level, along the passes of the Cordillera Real of Bolivia. Traveling along the Andes of South America, they engage and share in the lives of those they meet. Through them we learn local perspectives on regional issues, sharing these realities. We undertake to explore commonalities and differences along the Americas.
