Fundraising Events 2018

The Friends of the Dillon Ranger District holds various fundraising events throughout the year to benefit all of our programs and projects. Our dedicated volunteers assist in most of these events, and we encourage folks to come out and participate! Your volunteer time in helping us with these events is just as valuable to our organization as time spent on trails and forest projects.

Casino Night - January 27, 2018, 6:00pm - 10:00pm

Volunteers Needed: Board Members + 12 volunteers

Board Members will help check guests in, sell drink tickets, and organize the live and silent auctions. Extra volunteers (about 12) are needed to walk around and serve appetizers.


March

Elks Breakfast - March 25th, 2018, 9:00am - 12:00pm

Volunteers Needed: Board members and a couple volunteers are needed to help sell advance tickets.

Partner Organizations: The Summit County Elks Lodge

This all you can eat breakfast buffet along with a silent auction usually draws in a good crowd. Board members, staff, and volunteers typically sell around 100 tickets beforehand, which greatly contributes to the success of the breakfast. FDRD takes half of the proceeds from ticket sales, (the other half goes to the Elks Lodge for providing tickets, food, volunteers, venue, etc.) and all the proceeds from the silent auction.

Dillon Farmers Market - Every Friday, June 8th - September 14th, 2018

Volunteers Needed: 1-2 volunteers each week to work the FDRD booth. We sell FDRD merchandise as well as a selection of maps, hiking guides, and naturalist guides. We also provide the public with information on hiking, invasive weeds, wildfires, wilderness rules, and all of our upcoming volunteer projects.

 


June

Ride the Rockies Bike Race - June 9, 2018 12:00pm - 8:00pm

Volunteers Needed: 10-12

Partner Organizations: Breckenridge Tourism Office

Volunteers are requested to help serve beer at the kickoff party, which takes place the night before the racers take off. There will be live music, food, and of course, beer. There are 2 shifts (12:00pm-4:00pm & 4:00pm-8:00pm), and we need approximately 5-6 people for each shift. Volunteers will be checking IDs, selling beer, and selling FDRD merchandise. Volunteers should be comfortable handling cash and credit card machines. Each volunteer will get a free beer. :)

DooWop Denny Concert - June 20, 2018, 6:00pm

Volunteers Needed: Provided by Summit Seniors

Partner Organizations: The Summit Seniors, Summit Mountain Bikers

DooWop Denny donates his time and puts on a concert at the Summit County Senior Center and FDRD takes the proceeds. The leg work for this event is done by the Summit County Seniors in conjunction with the Summit Mountain Bikers. FDRD provides water, ice, and all paper goods, and guests bring any food and drinks they’d like to share. Board members may be asked to help sell tickets to this event.

Bacon & Bourbon Festival @ Keystone Resort - June 23-24, 2018, 12:00pm - 6:00pm

Volunteers Needed: 75 over 2 fun-filled days

Partner Organizations: Keystone Neighbourhood Company

If FDRD is able to gather enough volunteers, then the Keystone Neighbourhood Company makes a generous donation to FDRD programs. Each volunteer gets a free t-shirt, and either a bacon sampling wristband, a drink ticket, or Bacon Bucks to spend at the festival.


July

Breckenridge 100 Bike Race - July 14, 2018, 8:30am - 2:30pm

Volunteers Needed: 6 - 8

Partner Organizations: Breckenridge 100

Volunteers are needed to man aid stations for the bikers. Bikers then contribute some of their winnings.


August

Concert in the Park - August 9th, 2018, 5:00pm - 8:00pm

Volunteers Needed: 8

Partner Organizations: Town of Frisco

Join us for a lovely summer evening of music at Frisco's Concert in the Park. The proceeds from the drink sales at this particular concert will directly benefit FDRD and, in turn, directly benefit the forest. Volunteers will be manning the drink sales: checking IDs, taking in cash, pouring wine, and opening beer.

Frisco Fall Fest - 2018 date TBD

Volunteers Needed: 20

Partner Organizations: Town of Frisco

Once again, Frisco is hosting Fall Fest on their charming & mellow Main Street. FDRD will be fundraising by selling drinks at Fall Fest and selling our own merchandise at a booth as well. Volunteers are needed for pouring and selling beer and wine, selling food tickets, and for manning the FDRD booth. The day is typically split up into 2 shifts.


December

CO Gives Day - December 4th, 2018, all day event

Volunteers Needed: Board members and a few volunteers may help with this fundraising event by making an individual fundraising page through the CO Gives website, and soliciting personal contacts for donations in support of FDRD, our mission, and our programs.
