SUMMARY:Boreal Toad Survey
DESCRIPTION:Volunteer for Boreal Toad Surveying with US Forest Service Fisheries Crew. The boreal toad is listed as an endangered species in the state of Colorado. Population decline is related to infections from chytrid fungus. Join us as we collect data on the Boreal Toad populations. Hike to site will be a short distance on easy trail but the surveying will involve off trail travel in wet land areas while wearing waders. Be prepared for uneven footing. There are limited volunteer spots for this project due to protection of the wetland habitat. USFS will be providing waders and boots. People will not be allowed to use personal waders due to biosecurity.

SUMMARY:Trailhead Cleanup: Scoop the Dog Poop
DESCRIPTION:These well-loved trails see heavy year-round use by hikers and dog owners\, and unfortunately\, pet waste has become a growing issue impacting the health of the forest\, water quality\, and the trail experience for all users. \nJoin FDRD and Dog Days of Summit to help improve the National Forest by collecting and properly disposing of dog waste along trails and near trailhead. All necessary supplies\, including gloves\, waste bags\, and collection tools\, will be provided. In addition to hands-on stewardship\, FDRD and Dog Days of Summit will offer brief educational messaging to raise awareness about the environmental impacts of pet waste and encourage responsible recreation.
