*NEW* Ranger Patrol TrainingIMG_5089.jpeg

When: Saturday, May 16th  8:00am – 4:00pm (mandatory attendance for inclusion in the 2020 season)

Where: North Branch Library - 651 Center Circle, Silverthorne, CO

For over the past decade, volunteers of FDRD have been assisting the US Forest Service (USFS) by patrolling our extensive trail network here in Summit County. With over 430 miles of trail, the USFS simply does not have the resources to provide a friendly and informed presence on the trails—that’s where you come in!

If you enjoy hiking in nature, this is the perfect program for you! We ask our volunteers to complete the mandatory training listed above, participate in (1) two-hour mentor hike and commit to (4) four-hour hikes from June through September. Once you have completed the mentor hike, you are free to schedule your hikes when and wherever you choose.

You will be trained by USFS and FDRD staff to approach and educate thousands of visitors this summer on our beloved trails. The uniform and all the necessary resources will be provided for you to have an enjoyable volunteer experience interacting with fellow nature lovers while giving back to your local Forest.

Two important things to know:

  1. Due to time and resource restraints, we are only able offer the mandatory training one time during the season. (Saturday, May 16, 2020, 8:00am - 4:00pm)
  2. I love dogs and have my own! Unfortunately, they do need to stay home while you are in uniform on an official Ranger Patrol hikeUNADJUSTEDNONRAW_thumb_8ea7.jpeg

We’re excited to add you to the already 90+ volunteers we have in the program! Come volunteer for your National Forest while learning more about your surroundings and interacting with other like-minded people. We look forward to hearing from you!
