Represent FDRD and Engage the Community

Share your Knowledge and Love for the National Forest!

There are ways to volunteer beyond digging dirt and carrying logs!

If your trail work days are behind you, these fun community events are a great way to stay involved and share your love of the great outdoors. Volunteer with us at community events to share our mission of stewarding the Public Lands of Summit County. Volunteers will provide support at these events by positively representing FDRD in the community and help promote responsible recreation, forest stewardship, and volunteerism both on and off the trail.

Volunteer with us as a representative of FDRD:

  • Interact with the public weekly during summer at the Dillon Farmers Market

  • Help FDRD at table events, sharing information about the Public Lands of Summit County

  • Act as a liaison between the Forest Service, FDRD, and the public

  • Become an FDRD voice by helping us post flyers to reach a wider audience in Summit County

  • Join the front desk staff at the USFS Ranger Station in Silverthorne, helping the public by answering questions and providing materials

  • Sell FDRD Merchandise

FAQ’s

FDRD staff will contact you as soon as they’re aware of any cancellations or other situations that would prevent you from volunteering. Keep an eye on your email and cell phone and we’ll be in touch.

You’ll be working as part of a team! Generally an FDRD staff member will be with you, and more than likely another volunteer will join as well. If your better half wants to join the fun and form a dynamic volunteer duo, that is always an option.

If you want to get a workout in, you can help us load or unload our trucks to set up for any event we might have, but otherwise, these are usually light physical duties where you’ll do more interacting with the public and sharing your knowledge than using your muscles.

Shift times for these events will vary, but at most you’ll be asked to provide a presence at our tent for 5-6 hours with breaks provided.
