Volunteers are the heart of Friends of the Dillon Ranger District (FDRD) and play a vital role in our mission to protect the White River National Forest.
Diverse volunteer programs, including trail maintenance, forest restoration, wildfire prevention, educational outreach, and visitor services, allow community members to take an active role in caring for Summit County’s public lands.
Each year, FDRD volunteers contribute thousands of service hours in direct support of the U.S. Forest Service. Our volunteers and staff make a tangible, lasting impact on the health, accessibility, and sustainability of our forests.
These efforts preserve natural spaces for future generations and foster environmental stewardship. Together, we build a stronger, more connected community rooted in care for our shared outdoor spaces.
