Volunteers are the heart of Friends of the Dillon Ranger District (FDRD) and play a vital role in our mission to protect and enhance the White River National Forest. Through diverse volunteer programs—including trail maintenance, forest restoration, wildfire prevention, educational outreach, and visitor services—community members take an active role in caring for Summit County’s public lands.

Each year, FDRD volunteers contribute thousands of service hours in direct support of the U.S. Forest Service, making a tangible, lasting impact on the health, accessibility, and sustainability of our forests. These efforts not only preserve natural spaces for future generations but also foster environmental stewardship and build a stronger, more connected community rooted in care for our shared outdoor spaces.
