Colorado Gives Day 2019

Every year our state’s largest day of giving, CO Gives Day raises millions of dollars for over 2,000 participating CO nonprofits.

Thanks to funds raised during Colorado Gives Day last year, we were able to purchase a much-needed heavy-duty truck to safely transport our staff and tools to projects across the county!

This year FDRD will be using Colorado Gives Day donations to help fund a new multi-year trail project. In partnership with the US Forest Service, we are undertaking improvements and accessibility enhancements at the Sapphire Point trail located on Swan Mountain Road.  The work will focus on tread improvement for increased use by pedestrians and those with disabilities. The current trail tread is badly out-sloped, making it difficult for not only hikers to traverse but also for those that rely on wheels for recreational purposes (ie. wheelchairs, walkers and strollers).

Over the next few years, FDRD staff and dedicated volunteers will work alongside community partners and contractors to help re-grade the trail tread and install a composite wood retaining wall. The heavy use of this trail has taken its toll. We look forward to addressing these issues while providing an improved avenue to our National Forest for everyone to enjoy.

Please consider donating to help ensure that FDRD continues to grow and promote the overall stewardship of our local, beloved National Forest here in Summit County, CO.  You can schedule your tax-deductible donation now, payable on Colorado Gives Day, Tuesday December 10th, 2019.  Please remember your donation goes even further thanks to the Community First Foundation incentive fund!

From all of us here at FDRD, we’d like to wish you and your families a happy and healthy holiday season. Thank you for your continued support – we couldn’t do it without you!
