Front Desk Representative at the Dillon Ranger Station

Do you love the forest and enjoy helping others? Friends of the Dillon Ranger District (FDRD) and USFS Dillon Ranger District is looking for friendly, enthusiastic volunteers to assist at the front desk of our ranger station in Silverthorne.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Answering phone calls.
  • Providing information about the forest, trails, and recreation opportunities.
  • Assisting visitors with general inquiries.

Ideal Volunteers:

  • Have a passion for the outdoors and our beautiful National Forest.
  • Possess strong communication skills.
  • Are comfortable using basic office equipment (phones, computers).
  • Knowledge of Summit County and White River National Forest-Dillon Ranger District

Volunteer Shifts:
Flexible schedules are available, and we’ll provide training to ensure you feel confident in the role. We ask that volunteers complete two 4-hour shifts per month. Shifts are available Monday-Friday. Volunteers must attend Visitor Services Training Date.

By volunteering, you’ll help ensure visitors have an amazing experience in the forest while contributing to our mission of preserving these special lands.

Training Dates

  • Tuesday January 28th 9-11am
  • Wednesday January 29th 1-3pm
  • Tuesday February 4th 9-11am

Shifts begin mid February. We are looking for commitment through the spring and then we will re group for the summer as most volunteers have different availability depending on the season.
